The area around Kitzbühel offers outstanding natural beauty

The region’s landscape includes breathtaking features such as the rolling hills in the broad valley basin - where the Kitzbühel Ache River flows - and the famous "Wilder Kaiser" mountain range. However Kitzbühel’s beauty extends far beyond spectacular peaks.

Alpine agriculture is also a vital part of the region’s picture-postcard beauty. The significant contribution made by Tyrolean farmers is manifested in almost every vista: it would be hard to imagine Kitzbühel without its quaint farmhouses, fenced-in pastures, and hay barns, which play an important role in the life of the locals.

Cool Tip: The Erbhof Trail leads past the most beautiful farms. For further details please pick up a brochure from the Kitzbühel Tourist Board.

Another stunning feature that marks the Greater Kitzbühel landscape is the region’s churches and chapels. In the Baroque era, Gothic buildings had to either make way for the new style of architecture or have Baroque elements incorporated. For centuries, social life in rural Tyrol was dominated by the regional head of the Roman Catholic Church, and even though these strong ties became loose over the course of the 20th century, many of the customs still live on in local villages.

These include a number of religious processions held in Tyrol every year, and several public holidays such as Corpus Christi, which bring the community together at the local church.
